The Ground Up Garden Center carries a wide range of gardening-related
items but specializes in unusual plants. They include Orchids and other
tropical plants. Stepables, a group of easy-to-maintain plants that
tolerate foot traffic. Developed by an Oregon-based company, the plants
are designed for areas where more delicate plants won't survive.Also the garden center carries dwarf and miniature conifers especially selected to thrive in the Catawba Valley. Intended for container gardens, rock gardens and other small areas, the evergreens only grow about 1 inch per year. See our Container Gardening section. What we offer customers depends on the season. During the fall season we have ornamental cabbage and pansies. The fall is the best time to plant shrubbery, because a root system will have time to develop before blooming in the spring. For people who like house plants, we have them year-round. Fresh-cut flowers are featured in the summer months from its gardens, arranged by professional designers and delivered locally. From The Ground Up Garden Center also features high-end Mexican pottery, house plants and garden supplies. The garden center also carries a line of all-natural deer, rabbit and insect repellents; locally-grown, balled and burlapped trees including deciduous magnolias; and Faford potting soils and soil amendments.

Hours are 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday; 8 AM to 2 PM on Saturdays.
Closed Sundays.
